These twin brothers decided to kick off the new year with a fresh start.

YouTube personalities Aaron and Austin Rhodes used their channel to come out to their father, who lives in Ohio.

In hopes of sending a message to their followers that it’s okay to be yourself, The Rhodes Bros got their dad on the phone to break the news.

They were initially nervous, taking long pauses to let out their cries.

“I just didn’t want you to find out through YouTube and I just wanted to be able to have that conversation, because I feel like we’re close enough, and I finally feel like I’m at that point now where I’m able to tell you, and I just want to be able to have you behind us 100 percent,” Austin Rhodes said to his dad. “I just don’t want you to not love us anymore.”

“It doesn’t change who we are as people either,” he continued. “I’m the exact same person. I just don’t want to feel like I can’t call you and talk to you. I still want everything to be normal.” Watch the original YouTube video below.

The brothers started to feel relieved when their father showed compassion.

“It’s the way things are, you know,” their father told his sons. “You’re growing people. You grew up in a much different generation than me. I just don’t really know what to say. You know I love you both, that will never change. You’ve gotta live your lives. You’ve gotta do what you gotta do.”

“Here’s to 2015,” Austin says at the end the emotional video.

After the video went viral, Aaron shared a sweet photo of himself with his father.

“This is the man behind the phone call,” he wrote. “My dad. His words will inspire so many and I can’t even begin to express how incredibly proud of him I am.”
