Her fans said “Gimme More,” and Britney Spears is responding with the debut of her fifth studio album – and accompanying single – as early as next week, Entertainment Weekly reports on its Web site. calls the 25-year-old’s new single, “Gimme More,” an “up-tempo” dance track that “music insiders love.” The album remains unnamed.

On Wednesday, singer/songwriter Ne-Yo told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show that Spears’s new music is “definitely up-tempo.” He added, “She’s gotta remind people why they love her in the first place. She’s gotta get their minds off her personal life and back on the music.”

Ne-Yo also said that he’d written several songs for Spears, but had lost touch with her music reps after the pop star went to rehab.

“I have no idea what’s going on with Britney Spears right now. The last thing I heard is she was mad at me over some songs that were supposed to go to her,” he said. “I wrote six to eight songs for Britney Spears, working really closely with her people. Then [she] goes and shaves her head and goes into rehab – and when that happened I lost all contact with her and the people at her label.”

Asked if he thinks Spears can stage a comeback, he said, “I think its possible. I heard a lot of the music. I definitely think she can do it.”

Indee, amid her erratic behavior and bitter custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, Spears’s return to her song and dance routine could improve her battered image.

“She’s got a whole new sound,” reports. “She’s funky.”

The report goes on to say: “The only question is, with all the drama, are people going to want something fun or something more serious? This is a dance single.”

The track was produced by Timbaland protégé Nate “Danjahandz” Hills, reports, though representatives for Spears’s label, Jive, did not respond to calls from the site seeking comment.
