Redstone: A Blockbuster Divorce

Viacom mogul Sumner Redstone — whose empire includes Paramount Pictures, CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Blockbuster Video and Simon & Schuster publishers — is being sued for divorce by his wife of 52 years, reports the New York Post. Phyllis Redstone, 74, is asking for half of her husband’s $6 billion fortune. Should she win, the settlement would constitute a new record, beating the $874 million granted in 1982 to Soraya Khashoggi, wife of Adnan Khashoggi. According to court papers filed last week, Phyllis (who has petitioned for divorce twice before, only to reconcile with Sumner both times) is accusing her husband, 76, of cheating on her. The Post suggests the other woman is Christine Peters, the ex-wife of movie producer Jon Peters.
