Rebel Wilson took to social media to thank fans for attending the show at the Hollywood Bowl Monday night
Rebel Wilson is wrapping her time under the sea with her final performance in The Little Mermaid Live tonight.
The actress starred as the Disney film’s villain, Ursula, in the three-night concert event at The Hollywood Bowl featuring a live orchestra and songs from the 1989 animated classic.
Wilson performed a rendition of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and was joined by Sara Bareilles as Ariel, Glee’s Darren Criss as Prince Eric, and John Stamos as Chef Louis.
“Thank you so much to all the fans who came out to see The Little Mermaid in Concert last night,” she tweeted following the performance, along with photos of her getting into costume.
Her performance was also recorded by audience members, who later shared the video to YouTube.
Wearing a lightning-white wig, the Pitch Perfect star was a crowd favorite as the conniving sea witch. Croaking out a rendition of Ursula’s “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” Wilson clearly delighted in inhabiting the outrageous villain. Plus, few actresses could really get away with tucking a beloved Disney prop like the spiral shell holding Ariel’s voice into their cleavage.
In addition to the all-star cast, fans were treated to a pre-show medley by Alan Menken, who, along with the late Howard Ashman, penned the music for The Little Mermain and many other Disney animation classics. Menken’s opening act included a beautiful piano medley that took the audience through a chronological tour of his greatest hits.
