11 Reasons We're Kinda Liking Justin Bieber Again and Why You Should, Too
HE'S 'BOUT THAT FAMILY LIFE
HE TOOK A BACK SEAT IN HIS VIDEO FOR 'SORRY'
The "Sorry" music video was one of 2015's best: Impeccable choreography from the mind of hip-hop dancer Parris Goebel. We love that Bieber stepped out of the spotlight and let a fierce group of ladies rock out to his music.
HE JUST SEEMS … HAPPIER
Bieber might be ditching the whole adolescent angst thing. Would we have seen the Biebs' toothy grin in 2014? Probably not.a
HE'S IN TOUCH WITH HIS EMOTIONS
When Bieber's performance of his new single "What Do You Mean" on the VMAs stage was met with thunderous applause, he couldn't help but break down in tears afterwards. It's a far cry (literally) from his don't-care attitude in years past. What's not to love about a Biebs who isn't afraid to show what he's feeling – and cries when he's welcomed back into the Hollywood fold?
HE APOLOGIZED (AND APOLOGIZED AND APOLOGIZED)
The first step toward making amends is asking for forgiveness, and we can't say that Justin Bieber hasn't done just that. Whether it was a magazine cover or an Instagram post or even a conversation with PEOPLE, Bieber spent the first half of 2015 making sure that everyone out there knew just how sorry he was for his bad behavior. (Like, really, really sorry.)
HE GOT PRANKED FOR A CHANGE
Bieber's love of pranks – if you can call antics like egging your neighbor's house and causing thousands of dollars in damages a prank – is one of the things that got him into trouble in the first place, so it helped to see the tables get turned on him when Ellen DeGeneres scared the singer on her show. We got to watch him jump, he got to show that he can take a joke; it was truly a win-win.
HE JOKED AROUND WITH JAMES CORDEN
To be fair, James Corden is so charming that he can make just about anyone seem endearing. But it was still a surprise just how much more we (reluctantly) liked Bieber after watching him dance in the car with the Late Late Show host for just a few minutes. Consider it Corden's super power.
HE RELEASED A KILLER SINGLE
Forget how you feel about the singer himself, if you can sit through a full listen of "Where Are Ü Now" – his latest single with Skrillex and Diplo – without feeling even the tiniest urge to dance, you might want to get your pulse checked.
HE COVERED BOYZ II MEN
We'll be honest with you: We're suckers for a good '90s RampB ballad. So when Bieber unveiled his interpretation of Boyz II Men's classic "I'll Make Love to You," we couldn't help but forgive him just a little. He had us by the first riff.
HE EMBRACED HIS ALTER EGO
Everyone on the planet is a totally in love with Orange Is the New Black's Ruby Rose. So it was smart of Bieber to quickly befriend the deejay/actress in the hopes that some of that goodwill would rub off on him. After all, if our newest celebrity crush is hanging out with Bieber, how bad could he really be?
HE MADE FUN OF HIMSELF
The easiest way to win over the public is to prove that you don't take yourself too seriously (just ask Jennifer Lawrence!), which is why Bieber's grand apology tour includes a stop at Lip Sync Battle, so he can show off his Ozzy Osbourne impression and his sense of humor at the same time. You have our attention, Justin. Let's see what you do next.
