The Tv host and Star Trek actor is injured in a five-car pileup
LeVar Burton was injured in a five-car accident in West Los Angeles, police tell PEOPLE.
Burton, 52, whose TV acting has included roles on such programs as Roots and Star Trek: The Next Generation and who served as the longtime host of Reading Rainbow, was driving his 2006 Mercedes eastbound along Beverly Boulevard at about 7:40 p.m. Monday when a 74-year-old woman driving westbound turned left in front of him, says LAPD Officer Tenesha Dobine.
The wreck caused a five-car pileup, although no one was seriously injured, Dobine tells PEOPLE. However, Burton complained of neck pain and was treated at a nearby hospital and released, she added.
