Is Rand Paul running for president?

While he hasn’t officially confirmed it, the Kentucky Republican senator’s bid for the White House is looking far more likely after his annual airing of grievances for Festivus on Tuesday.

“Of course, everyone has to be themselves, and I have my own style. I think this will be a popular item this year,” he wrote on Twitter, sharing a picture of a sweatshirt that reads “Rand Paul 2016.”

The Tweet was in response to a quip about fellow Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell and former presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s penchant for sweater vests.

“We all know having a fashion forward campaign is important to success,” Paul wrote.

The senator is expected to formally announce his bid in April, but it looks like holiday excitement got the better of him.

Paul is not the first person to express interest in the 2016 race. Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson threw his hat into the ring in November with a 40-minute paid video documentary introducing himself to voters.
