'Puffy' Indicted Again
Rap artist Sean “Puffy” Combs and his bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones were indicted in New York on Wednesday on charges of bribing a witness. The two men are accused of offering Combs’s driver, Wardel Fenderson, $50,000 in cash and a diamond ring — a birthday present to Combs from his girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez — to say he owned a gun police found as Combs drove away from a Times Square nightclub where a shooting had occurred. Combs, 30, already faces gun possession charges in connection with the Dec. 27 incident. “I am outraged by this new charge,” Combs, who was in Los Angeles attending the Grammy Awards, said in a statement. “I am not guilty. From the outset I have firmly believed that the Manhattan district attorney’s office has unfairly targeted me for baseless charges.” Combs pleaded innocent to weapons charges earlier this month. If convicted of that accusation, he could face 15 months in prison. The bribery charge carries a penalty of seven years.
