It’s off with the old for Arrested Development star Portia de Rossi, who is said to be shedding a tattoo of her ex’s initials.

The tattoo, which is on De Rossi’s ring finger, was meant to show her commitment to her now ex-girlfriend, singer-songwriter Francesca Gregorini, reports USA Today. De Rossi, 32, and Gregorini, who is the stepdaughter of former Beatle Ringo Starr, dated for three years, until they spilt late last year.

“I’m not saying it’s anything I regret doing, because I don’t, but it just doesn’t make any sense now,” de Rossi told Details magazine of her plans to have the tattoo removed.

Shortly after her breakup with Gregorini, de Rossi and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres became a couple. Late last year, DeGeneres’s girlfriend of four years, photographer Alexandra Hedison, moved out of the couple’s Hollywood Hills home, a source told PEOPLE.

Although DeGeneres, 47, and de Rossi, who was once featured on Ally McBeal, had been acquainted for some time, their romance came to light at the VH1 Big in ’04 awards ceremony in Los Angeles in December.

As an onlooker reported at the beginning of the relationship: “Ellen and Portia seemed totally into each other. Their body language was intense.”
