Feliz cumpleaños a ti, Pope Francis!

A roomful of children from the Italian Catholic Action Youth group visited the Vatican on Thursday to help the Argentine-born pope celebrate his 79th birthday.

The young visitors sang the “Happy Birthday” song in Spanish before presenting the beloved pontiff with a gift and a cake with one candle on it, according to footage captured by the news agency Rome Reports.

A smiling Francis blew out the candle and thanked the children by dropping kisses on the tops of their heads.

“We feel so emotional to celebrate your birthday with you,” one of the children told Francis in a speech. “We wish for you to stay well and for you to guide us for many years with that love, that simplicity, and that humility that has reached the hearts of all of us.”

The pope then took the mic to express his gratitude for the birthday visit and wish the children a Merry Christmas.

“And thank you for the cake,” he added with a laugh.
