So Zac Efron won’t be singing and dancing in the halls of Beaumont High anytime soon – the former High School Musical star dropped out of the upcoming remake of 1984’s Footloose. Gossip Girl heartthrob Chace Crawford reportedly auditioned for the role of Ren McCormack, which launched the career of a then 25-year-old Kevin Bacon. Who do you think has the chops to bring dancing back to Beaumont?

Chace Crawford, 23: His singing and dancing skills are as yet untested onscreen – but it’s time for the Gossip Guy to rock out in a leading role.

Derek Hough, 23: The Dancing with the Stars pro has the fancy footwork and the pipes, too – he sings with fellow dancer Mark Ballas in the Ballas Hough Band.

Bow Wow, 22: He sings, dances, and has big-screen experience (check him out dancing on roller skates in 2005’s Roll Bounce).

David Cook, 26: The American Idol winner has a winning way with a rock song. Maybe he picked up some dance tips from his onetime girlfriend, DWTS‘s Lacey Schwimmer?
