Pokémon Go has its first promotional tie-in. In support of the July 27 release of the movie Nerve, Lionsgate and new movie ticketing app Atom Tickets partnered to sponsor PokéStop boosts at locations outside movie theaters in 11 U.S. cities. The promotion will run from 4-7p.m. on July 26, where the mobile game’s PokéStops located outside of movie theaters in 11 select cities will be constantly boosted with Lure Modules. There will also be brand ambassadors stationed at those locations giving away movie promo items and distributing “Buy One/Get One” codes for Tuesday night showings of Nerve at nearby theaters in: Atlanta, Los Angeles, Nashville, San Diego, Charlotte, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham, Tampa-St. Pete. For those uninitiated or unfamiliar with the game, a PokéStop is one of many locations in Pokémon Go where players can retrieve helpful items to catch and keep Pokémon. A Lure Module can be purchased within the game and is designed to increase the likelihood players have of catching Pokémon. Nerve , fittingly, is a thriller which revolves around players of an addicting mobile game of innocent-turned-sinister truth or dare. The film co-stars Emma Roberts and Dave Franco. Nerve hits theaters July 27.
