Anna Camp and Skylar Astin are making the final arrangements for their outdoor California wedding this fall – and so far the process has been stress-free!

“We’re tying up some loose ends, but everything is coming along very smoothly,” Camp, 33, told PEOPLE while attending the NXNE Toronto music festival with Courtyard Hotels. “I get to try on my dress next month, which is really exciting. And we’re finalizing tasting menus. We get to go taste cakes in a week or two. It’s just been the most pleasant and love-filled [process]. I’m so thrilled and excited.”

Astin, 28, has been just as involved in the wedding prep as his bride-to-be.

“I have really enjoyed tapping into what we both love,” he says. “We really agree on everything, whether it’s color palette or creative ideas or music. It’s been a validating experience to realize we’re certainly marrying the right person, because we’re best friends. People like to commiserate about the stress of wedding planning, but it hasn’t been the case with us. It’s been really fun!”

The Pitch Perfect stars – who have been dating since 2013 and got engaged over the New Year holiday weekend – each have specific details they are most looking forward to about the big day. For Camp, it’s having her favorite dish on their menu.

“I’m from South Carolina and I’m a big fan of shrimp and grits,” she says. “I told them about my favorite restaurant in Charleston, 82 Queen, and they’re actually going to recreate that specific shrimp and grit dish. I am going to have to get two or three servings on the night!”

Astin is most excited about their one-of-a-kind after party.

“I really think it’s going to be special and different and a little looser. I think our guests are really going to enjoy some surprises we have for them,” he says. “We’re serving breakfast burritos and flavored popcorn. It’s going to feel like a nightclub in there.”

“Hopefully we’ll be dancing until the sun comes up, and then everyone’s going to want to eat crazy breakfast food,” adds Camp. “It will be a big party.”
