People.com Celebrity 11 Reasons Why Pippa Middleton Is the Ultimate #Fitspo She may not be a princess, but Kate's sister Pippa is royally athletic By Diana Pearl Published on March 22, 2016 05:40 PM Share Tweet Pin Email 01 of 11 SHE SKIS THE WORLD'S LONGEST DOWNHILL RACE Greg Sirc/Splash News Online When Pippa does extreme sports, she's about as extreme as one can get. Case in point? Pippa completed the Inferno race in Mürren, Switzerland, which is also known as the longest downhill ski race in the entire world. Lasting for nearly 15 kilometers (just over nine miles) of narrow spots and steep slopes, the race even has some uphill elements – and she finished in 12 minutes and 28 seconds, coming in 67th out of 105 participants. 02 of 11 SHE CROSS-COUNTRY SKIS – FOR 33.5 MILES Geir Olsen/Birken/Disability Snowsport UK /Getty Pippa is always impressive on skis – even when she's not on an incline. She competed in a 33.5 mile cross-country ski race in Norway, crossing the distance in 5 hours and 58 minutes. The royal sibling was joined by Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark for the trek, which they all completed. Plus, each competitor had to take on the course while wearing a 7-pound-plus backpack. 03 of 11 SHE WORKS OUT ON VACATION CRYSTAL/Pacific Coast News Most of us spend tropical vacations planted on a beach chair, fruity cocktail in hand. Pippa, however, keeps active with an afternoon on the tennis court. During a trip to St. Barts with her family, she and her brother James Middleton hit a few balls. 04 of 11 SHE RAN AND SWAM FOR 47 MILES FameFlynet Running through rugged Swedish terrain and then swimming the frigid waves in the Baltic Sea? It's all in a days work for Pippa, who completed the grueling Otillö race in Sweden last fall alongside her brother James Middleton, now-boyfriend James Matthews and teammate Jöns Bartholdson. After the race, Pippa confirmed that she is actually a human being, saying the race was "one of the hardest experiences I've ever had." 05 of 11 SHE BIKED ACROSS AMERICA Thorpe/Splash News Online In June 2014, Pippa Middleton and her brother James, 28, participated in a ride across America, where the two (and a team of eight others), biked from California to Maryland (that's 3,000 miles!) in just eight days. As with most of her extreme fitness endeavors, the race had a philanthropic component: She participated on behalf of the British Heart Foundation, and later auctioned off her bike on eBay to raise even more. 06 of 11 SHE BIKED ACROSS ENGLAND Anthony Harvey/Getty Earlier this summer, Pippa (and James!) got back on the bike, again to support the British Heart Foundation. This time, they rode from a London to Brighton, a 54-mile trek. Although after a 3,000-mile bike ride, 54 miles is probably a breeze. 07 of 11 SHE RUNS MARATHONS Jeff Angote/Lewa Pippa's sporty on two legs as well as two wheels. Just a week after her 54-mile bike ride, the younger Middleton sister jetted off to Kenya, where she ran a full marathon (that's 26.2 miles) in support of Tusk Trust, a conservation charity with a family connection: Prince William is a patron. But Pippa wasn't content to run an easy marathon. This one was at an altitude of more than 5,000 feet, making the air thinner – and the run all the more challenging. 08 of 11 SHE SKIS IN CHARITY RACES BauerGriffin She runs, she bikes, she skis. Back in 2012, Pippa and James participated in a 56-mile cross-country ski race, the Vasaloppet, in Sweden. Completing more than 50 miles on cross-country skis is already quite the accomplishment – but doing so in the frigid cold Swedish winter is even more impressive. 09 of 11 SHE COMPETES IN MULTI-SPORT CHALLENGES Pacific Coast News Pippa skyrocketed to fame after her behind captured worldwide attention at her sister's royal wedding in 2011. And two months later, she proved that her svelte figure wasn't just the product of good genes. Back in June 2011, she participated in a duathlon (like a triathlon, but with a second running portion instead of a swim). 10 of 11 SHE'S DONE (PART OF) A TRIATHALON Chris Brunskill/Getty Talk about starting summer off on the right foot! In June 2015, Pippa teamed up with two friends to participate in the GE Blenheim Triathlon, taking on the 5KM running portion of the race while her teammates competed in the biking and swimming legs. 11 of 11 SHE SWIMS FROM ASIA TO EUROPE Bulent Doruk/Anadolu Agency/Getty Proving that neither land or sea is a match for her athletic prowess, Pippa took on a swimming competition in 2014, again with her brother James. The Bosphorus Cross Continental Swimming Race, which took place in Istanbul, was a four mile swim across the Bosphorus – from the Asian side of the city to the European.
