This won’t quiet the speculation about whether James Franco is gay: a stunning photo of the actor dolled up as a woman on the cover of Candy, a fashion zine devoted to transvestism, transexuality, cross-dressing and androgyny.

Franco, 32, is barely recognizable in the photo, with slicked-back hair, blue eyeliner, bright-red lipstick and black heart-shaped earrings. The image comes a month after Franco appeared on the cover of The Advocate.

In the Advocate story, he addressed the gay question. “Sure, I’d tell you if I was [gay],” he said. “I guess the reason I wouldn’t is because I’d be worried that it would hurt my career. But no, that wouldn’t be something that would deter me.”
