PEOPLE's Week in Photos
FAVORITE HOMECOMING QUEEN
Mary-Kate Olsen returned home to L.A. this week, taking an unscheduled midterm break from her studies at New York University to attend to "personal business." Just three months ago the 18-year-old freshman was treated for an eating disorder, but her rep assures PEOPLE: "She is not bottoming out," rather, "it is an ongoing struggle." Mary-Kate is expected back at NYU shortly.
Prince Harry got himself into a royal mess Oct. 21, earning the tabloid nickname "Harry Potty" after scuffling with paparazzi outside a London club. While aides say the 20-year-old – who recently faced accusations of cheating on an exam – was defending himself, photographer Chris Uncle claims the Prince left him with a cut lip. Even worse for Harry: his post-fight talk with dad Prince Charles, during which he apologized.
BIGGEST CASE OF NO DOUBT
Surprise! It's a girl ... and she's 15. Gavin Rossdale and his wife of two years, Gwen Stefani, confirmed this week that the 37-year-old Bush frontman is the father of his goddaughter, Daisy Lowe. Results of a DNA test earlier this month proved the parentage of the aspiring model, whose mother is Rossdale's longtime friend Pearl Lowe. "If you look at Daisy, there's an acute likeness to Gavin," said a source.
HOTTEST GUY AT HOME PLATE
While the Boston Red Sox have Johnny Damon's Game 7 grand slam to thank for their ticket to the World Series, female fans have another thing to be grateful for: some visual relief. The center fielder with the beard and long locks has replaced Yankee Derek Jeter as baseball's October heartthrob, begging the question: Should he bat shaggy or shorn?
Angelina Jolie admits she may seem "kind of wild or bad or weird or crazy," but to the men of Esquire magazine, that makes 3-year-old Maddox's mom their pick for "sexiest woman alive." Along with Jolie, 29, who was recently in Moscow bonding with orphans as a United Nations goodwill ambassador, Halle Berry and Britney Spears made the top three in reader votes.
MOST DESERVED VACATION
Britney Spears, 22, and husband Kevin Federline, 26, jetted off this week for a honeymoon at Fiji's own "Blue Lagoon." The couple chartered a 14-seat plane Oct. 17 and flew 10 hours to reach secluded Turtle Island, where celebrity guests – who have included Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson – stay in private bures (bungalows) with Jacuzzi baths and king-size beds.
MOST POSITIVE OUTLOOK
"She's in a good place," Rosie O'Donnell told PEOPLE this week about friend Melissa Etheridge, who underwent a lumpectomy to have a tumor and lymph nodes removed after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Now at home resting with partner Tammy Lynn Michaels (left), the singer, 43, is staying positive. "I am looking forward to a quick and full recovery," she reassured fans on her Web site.
MOST IMPRESSIVE FINISH
Reality TV fave Ryan Sutter, 30, crossed the finish line of the 2004 Ironman Triathalon World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on Oct. 16 and won a hug from his biggest cheerleader: wife Trista Rehn. The former Bachelorette, 32, was there to celebrate her firefighter husband's 11-hour race, in which he finished 756th out of 1,580 competitors. Two days later, Ryan told PEOPLE: "I'm definitely still tired."
RICHEST BIRTHDAY GIRL
Nicky Hilton (left) can finally join sister Paris, 23, at the bar: The younger heiress, who's been working out a separation agreement with husband Todd Meister, marked her 21st birthday with a weekend-long bash in Las Vegas – the site of her quickie wedding two months ago. Now that she's of age, expect Nicky to party at Club Paris, an Orlando nightspot named for her sister and set to open on New Year's Eve.
