Teens with Down Syndrome Attend Fairytale Prom: 'Everybody Should Be as One'
It was a special prom night for a special couple in Pennsylvania
A tiara and a horse-drawn carriage – all that was missing was the glass slipper!
Saturday was a special night for Pennsylvania high schoolers Clarence Bell and Jennifer Cassidy. The young couple was positively regal as they were escorted to Upper Darby High School’s prom in a horse-drawn carriage – complete with police chief escort!
Donning sashes and crowns, the couple made their entrance to prom in style, proving that even though they have Down syndrome, they can celebrate prom just like everyone else.
Bell’s mother, Janai, wanted to ensure the night was extra special for her son.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re black, white, Down syndrome, special needs, anything – everybody should be as one,” she told 6abc Action News.
“[Clarence] doesn’t care if a person is fat, skinny, black, white – he just loves everybody and he just wants to be included like everybody else,” Janai added.
