Following a celebratory awards season with the success of her supporting role in The Artist, Penelope Ann Miller has some news that isn’t so joyous.

The actress, 48, filed for legal separation on March 14 from James Huggins, her husband of nearly 12 years, according to documents filed in the L.A. Superior Court.

The exes have two children together – Eloisa, 11, and Maria, 2½.

Miller cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She requested to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Huggins. She has also asked to have sole legal and physical custody of their children, with her ex receiving child visitation rights.
