Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger seem to be returning to normalcy following their breakup earlier this month, with the USC student partaking in a little retail therapy on Friday.

He visited the Original Penguin store in Los Angeles, where he checked out some new duds, including a seersucker suit and two pairs of shoes.

“He was the nicest guy, in a great mood,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He came by himself. He was laughing and joking and was great with the staff!”

Schwarzenegger and Cyrus split after five months of dating, a source confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday.

Schwarzenegger was photographed shopping with friends at The Grove in Los Angeles, stopping into the Apple store and Nordstrom. The 21-year-old was dressed casually in Adidas sweatpants, and sporting heavy facial hair.

The split from the “We Can’t Stop” singer came shortly after photos surfaced in March of Schwarzenegger getting handsy with a female pal while on spring break.

Despite being seen in public after the incident, and attempting to work through issues, the relationship fizzled.

“They’re just in two different places in their lives – he’s in college and she’s focused on her music and career,” a source told PEOPLE.

Cyrus, 22, seems to be moving on quickly – sharing lip locks with several friends, and snuggling with Cara Delevingne in an Instagram photo she posted on Thursday night.

Another source told PEOPLE that Cyrus is “fine with being single now.”

“She had fun with Patrick and initially seemed to think it would lead to something serious. They had a hot thing going on in the beginning, but then it sort of fizzled out,” the source said. “They don’t have enough things in common and instead live in different worlds.”
