NAMED: Brandy, 23, and her producer-husband, Robert Smith, have named their new baby daughter Sy’rai, their publicist told the Associated Press. The child was born on Sunday, Father’s Day, two days before the debut of the MTV miniseries “Brandy: Special Delivery,” which promised to follow the entertainer as she prepared to give birth. Four or five more episodes are promised. . . . SPLIT: “Wheel of Fortune” letter-turner Vanna White, 45, has parted amicably with her husband of 11 years, restaurateur George Santo Pietro, a publicist for the show told Reuters. “They have mutually agreed to divorce and will remain good friends and good parents to their children (a daughter, 8, and a son, 5). They’re not bitter,” said Suzy Rosenberg. . . . FREED: Charges against “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon, 36, who was arrested outside New York’s City Hall last month for protesting cuts to the municipal public-education budget, have been dropped, reports the New York Post. A smiling Nixon left the criminal summons court Wednesday, announcing, “I was born here, and I’m a New York City public-school graduate.” . . . SELECTED: L.A. Lakers forward Rick Fox, 32, New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza, 33, and Olympic speed-skating gold medalist Apolo Anton Ohno, 20, were among those chosen by Sports Illustrated Women as three of the 75 guys who are “The Sexiest Men in Sports.” (SI Women, like PEOPLE, is part of AOL Time Warner.) In another hotly contested competition, as decided by 10 million chocolate lovers worldwide, purple will become the new color to join M&M’s candies. The hue won by 41 percent of the vote, leaving aqua (38 percent) and pink (19 percent) in the dust, according to the M&M’s people.
