Katherine Jackson: 'I Am Good and Fine'
The family matriarch emerges to lament, "My grandchildren have been taken away from me"
Her whereabouts and well-being have been the subject of mystery and debate, but now Katherine Jackson has emerged from what she calls a “short vacation” to find her life turned upside down.
“I am devastated that while I’ve been away my grandchildren have been taken away from me, and I’m coming home,” the Jackson family matriarch, 82, tells ABC News.
She spoke out just hours after a Los Angeles judge removed her as guardian of her late son Michael Jackson’s three children amid allegations that she may have been held against her will. Michael’s nephew TJ Jackson was named temporary guardian.
But Katherine, speaking out for the first time during the family’s crisis, tells ABC the claims are “based on a bunch of lies.”
“There are rumors going around about me that I have been kidnapped,” she says. “I am here today to let everybody to know that I am good and fine.”
She adds: “My children would never do anything to me like that.”
Katherine says that she had been staying at Arizona’s Miraval Resort & Spa for a “short vacation and rest” and that she didn’t call her grandchildren for days because “I just gave up my phone and I didn’t want to have any phone calls while I was here.”
