Pamela Anderson Lee — the former “Baywatch” star and a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — has written a letter to South Africa President Thabo Mbeki, asking him to save elephants that were beaten by animal trader Riccardo Ghiazza. According to PETA, Ghiazza captured 30 baby elephants in Botswana last year and brought them to South Africa where their training included the use of sharp prods and water- and food- deprivation. Last year the ASPCA won legal custody of the elephants, but an appeals court ordered that the elephants remain in Ghiazza’s possession.
