Padma Laskshmi Did Not Expect Her Bikini Shot to Go Viral
"I clearly don't understand the ins and outs of Instagram," Lakshmi told PEOPLE
Padma Lakshmi, who last week posted a picture of herself running on the beach in a bikini (with an interesting caption), never expected the shot to go viral.
During Saturday’s Veuve Clicquot Carnaval event in Miami, Lakshmi, 44, told PEOPLE, “I clearly don’t understand the ins and outs of Instagram, I’m always amazed at what gets a lot of attention … I didn’t expect that.”
The cookbook author, whose sheer Pucci dress was coincidentally blowing up and away in the wind on the red carpet, called the situation “funny,” saying, “I think it’s nice not to take oneself so seriously … on the show I have to be so serious.”
Also at the event, held at the new Thompson Hotel, was Emily Ratajkowski of Gone Girl, who talked about the film’s much-discussed Oscar snubs, explaining, “I think that wasn’t the goal of the movie – to get awards.”
The model-turned-actress, who is in this month’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, also spoke about the magazine’s revealing (and controversial) Hannah Davis cover. “I think she looks beautiful and I think she’s sexy as hell,” she said.
The “Blurred Lines” video star also voiced her thoughts on the first-ever plus size model in the issue, saying, “I think it’s just so exciting to have that sort of range of bodies, you don’t see that in a lot of lingerie or swim magazines.”
