Owen Wilson: I'm Receiving Care During 'Difficult Time'
The actor pleads for privacy while he's hospitalized in "good condition"
Owen Wilson put out a plea for his privacy Monday after he was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons.
“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time,” the actor said in a statement.
Wilson was hospitalized in “good condition” at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the hospital’s spokeswoman told TV’s Extra and the Associated Press. She didn’t give the reason for his admission.
But Extra reports that Wilson attempted suicide over the weekend after being depressed for several months, and that it was his brother Luke who found him. Extra attributed the report to an unidentified source.
Santa Monica police said officers responded to a “medical assistance call” at a house on Wilson’s street shortly after noon Sunday. A source confirmed the house was Wilson’s.
“The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated,” the police statement said.
Later in the evening, Wilson’s brothers Andrew and Luke, as well as his parents, were seen at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.
Wilson, who stars in the upcoming Wes Anderson movie The Darjeeling Limited, is currently filming the comedy Tropic Thunder, directed by Wilson’s friend Ben Stiller.
