No one and nothing is immune from Oscar fever, it appears — not even ice-cream manufacturers. PEOPLE reports that Cold Stone Creamery is asking its customers to cast their votes for “Best Ice Cream Creation in a Motion Picture Category, as inspired by the Academy’s Best Picture nominees.” Ballots may be cast at the company’s Web site before March 20. And the nominees are . . . “A Beautiful Mint”: “He saw ice cream in a way no one could have imagined,” goes its slogan. The flavor, inspired by the movie starring Russell Crowe, consists of mint ice cream, peppermint patties and chocolate fudge. “In the Berryroom” (not to be confused with Halle Berry): “Two very enthusiastic cones up!” This one, based on the drama “In the Bedroom,” starring Sissy Spacek, is made up of vanilla ice cream, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. “Lord of the Swirls”: “The fellowship of ice cream lovers.” This fantasy contains chocolate ice cream with caramel, chocolate chips and chocolate fudge. “Praline Rouge,” in tribute to the Baz Luhrmann musical “Moulin Rouge”: “Truth, beauty, freedom and love of ice cream.” In it you’ll find strawberry ice cream, strawberries and praline pecans. And, finally, “Toffee Park,” in homage to Robert Altman’s “Gosford Park”: “Ice cream at 4 — ice cream at 8 — ice cream at midnight.” The servants will deliver dishes of French vanilla ice cream with butter pecan flavor, Heath Bar and pecans. Good thing one of the components of the Oscar gift bag is a sports club membership.
