Oscar gift bags are notoriously biased toward women, what with their collection of high-priced cosmetics and the like. But the men have been heard from, reports PEOPLE, and the result is that the skin needs of Tom Wilkinson, Will Smith, Denzel Washington and other nominees will not be ignored. Even Russell might get some relief for his crow’s feet. (Sorry.) The powers that be at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, PEOPLE reports, have specifically requested that Oscar night gift-bag participant Aveda “include things for men,” says a spokesperson for the company, which manufactures and distributes cosmetic products that use plant-derived ingredients. In fact, there’s been a growing trend to recognize that men wish to be catered to. At last month’s Grammy ceremony, the gift bag included several products from Aramis (which is the Estee Lauder men’s line). Aveda is playing it somewhat safer at the Oscars, though. Everything that the company intends to include in its gift bag is pretty much unisex, and that includes its signature Shampure shampoo, Shampure conditioner and a bar of its Men’s Soap (obviously also suitable for women). “We were absolutely thrilled to be included,” the Aveda spokesperson said of the company’s participation. As it is, Aveda is no stranger to Hollywood; its new Aveda Environmental Lifestyle store is located within the new Hollywood and Highland Mall adjacent to the Kodak Theatre, where the Academy Awards will be held for the first time. Besides Aveda products, the goody bag will also include a $120 gift certificate redeemable in many celebrity-friendly locations. The gift chit reads, “Stop by for tea and pure aroma discoveries. Treat yourself to a moment of well-being . . . we’ll pour you a cup of comforting tea and take you on a sensory journey — a guided exploration of our pure plant aromas.” Now, what could be more inviting than that?
