It’s an exciting night for Poland!

Director Pawel Pawlikowski’s Ida won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film on Sunday and he thanked his family and friends back home in Poland.

Ida was up against Estonia’s Tangerines, Russia’s Leviathan, Mauritania’s Timbuktu, and Argentina’s Wild Tales.

Past winners include Amour, A Separation and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The 2015 Oscars, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris from the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles, are airing live on ABC.
