Oprah, Stedman Party Among Stars

The couple, with Winfrey pal Gayle King, attend a weekend music-foundation fete in L.A.

Oprah Winfrey and her two closest pals – boyfriend Stedman Graham and best friend Gayle King – lit up Saturday’s “A Starry Night” dinner and concert benefiting the GRAMMY Foundation and honoring Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

As the last of the VIPs to get to music producer David Foster’s Malibu mansion, the trio arrived in a Lexus driven by Graham, with Winfrey riding shotgun and King sitting in the back.

Upon their entrance, the cocktail hour officially ended and the party really kicked in. In his opening remarks, Foster called Winfrey the authoritative queen of talk and joked about her ability to steal the spotlight at any event.

As if to prove Foster’s point, Winfrey, Graham and King sat front and center before a stage set up on the estate’s tennis courts, where they enjoyed a prime view of performers including George Lopez, Natasha Beddingfield, Josh Groban, Babyface, Eric Benet and Dionne Warwick.

Also that night, Mayor Villaraigosa was honored for his commitment to developing youth after-school programs, a cause close to Winfrey’s heart: Her “Angel Network” supports organizations including an inner-city arts developer and a sexual education program for girls.

This summer, while she’s on a break from filming her talk show, Winfrey will be “going from village to village to choose the girls” for the girls’ school she’s building in Africa, she tells PEOPLE.
