Elijah Aaron breaks down the TLC hit piece by piece

Elijah Aaron has raised the bar for one-man bands everywhere.

In Aaron’s cover of TLC’s "No Scrubs," the artist doesn’t just sing over the beat; he makes it. Playing a guitar, a violin, bongos and other instruments, Aaron slowly builds to the 1999 hit we remember, and does it all in one take.

With the help of live-looping equipment, Aaron is able to record snippets of sound and stack them together to form “No Scrubs.” The video shows his progression, which starts with a patter and, after a nod to Big Pun’s “Still Not a Player,” ends with Aaron crooning the TLC jam.

The final product is definitive proof that Aaron is no scrub.
