On the Set of Gossip Girl
AND ... ACTION!
Chace Crawford (in character as Nate Archibald) and Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey) prepare to shoot a scene for Gossip Girl. Look out Blair – could Jenny be moving in on Nate? "Jenny gets a new crowd and adapts to her environment," Momsen reveals. "But I don't want to give too much away."
Ready for their scene, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester – better known as frenemies Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf – hang out on the steps of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the Upper East Side prep schoolers hang out, show off their expensive fashions and – what else? – gossip.
ON THE SHOE HORN
Between scenes, Lively and Ed Westwick, who plays hotel heir Chuck Bass, pass the time by joking around. "Everyone gets on really well so we just have these chats [during downtime]," Westwick says.
Filming in a city like New York means fans can show up on the set. "I don't think it can ever get normal," says Penn Badgley, who plays the wrong-side-of-the-tracks hero Dan Humphrey. "I deal with it. But it's strange to deal with psychologically. It's a weird thing."
"You have to get make up and hair, then you go and get dressed – which is a whole thing, on this show, especially," Meester says of her daily routine. "Then you have to get wired. Then you have rehearsal and blocking. In between they have to touch you up. There are a million different things. There's not much downtime."
Things may be a little different for the guys on the show. During his downtime, Crawford says he either listens to music or tries to catch up on sleep. "I turn on the radio and listen to a little rock – Nirvana, Sublime – from time to time," he says.
