A California appeals court reversed a lower court’s decision to award O.J. Simpson custody of his two younger children, Sydney and Justin. A new hearing was ordered after the court cited errors by the lower court in awarding custody to Simpson rather than to the parents of his slain wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, the AP reports. The appeals court said the lower court should have considered a Los Angeles civil court decision that found Simpson responsible for the slaying of his ex-wife. Nicole’s parents, Louis and Juditha Brown, had been guardians of the children while Simpson was on trial for the murder of their mother and her friend Ron Goldman on June 12, 1994. Jurors in a criminal trial acquitted Simpson of murder in 1995, but jurors in the civil case awarded the victims’ families $33.5 million in damages.
