The TV legend celebrated his 93rd birthday with a song about why you shouldn't worry about getting old
However, he hasn’t done everything. According to a blog entry he wrote for the Huffington Post, one thing he always wanted to do was to be a singer, and he chose the occasion of his 93rd birthday on Monday to check that item off his bucket list.
The above clip has Lear lip-syncing to “Happy Birthday to Me,” a song performed by singer and actor Paul Hipp about the struggles of getting older and why you shouldn’t let them bother you much. (The clip also implies that Lear is not entirely sure who Kim Kardashian is. If anyone should get a pass, it should be Lear.) Overall, it’s the best possible take-away for getting older, especially since there’s not too much that you can do about it.
Another great take-away? He’s pleased with his first foray into lip-syncing and doesn’t really mind if you disagree: “This was the result and I don’t care what you say, I love it,” he wrote in the blog entry.
That’s a twofer when it comes to Norman Lear life lessons: Age gracefully and don’t pay much attention to what other people think about you.
