After leaving rehab last month, Nick Gordon has one big goal in mind: to see his longtime love.

“Rehab was a success for Nick. He did very well and cleaned himself up. Now, he just really wants to see Bobbi Kristina,” a source in close contact with Gordon tells PEOPLE, adding that he’s currently staying with his mother, Michelle Gordon, in Orlando, Florida.

“It’s hard for him not to be able to see Krissy,” the source also said. “He wants to see for himself how she is doing. He only has third-hand information and doesn’t know any more than what the media has been reporting.”

Gordon, 25, who lived with the only daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston before she was found unresponsive and facedown in a bathtub on Jan. 31, entered rehab earlier this year following an “emotionally charged” intervention on The Dr. Phil Show that aired in March.

Gordon has been at odds with the Houston and Brown families ever since Bobbi Kristina’s medical crisis, although tensions existed even earlier, with the Houston family filing a restraining order against Gordon last year.

Bobbi Kristina was transferred to a long-term care facility in March and grandmother Cissy Houston has said she has irreversible brain damage.

In February, Gordon got a tattoo in honor of Bobbi Kristina, after the family banned him from visiting her bedside.

In February, Gordon lashed out against Bobby Brown, claiming the singer only saw his daughter four times in the past five years and is only visiting her “for publicity.”

Gordon’s lawyer Randy Kessler tells PEOPLE, “I have no comment at this time.”
