Nick Gordon, the boyfriend of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston‘s late daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, shared a superimposed image of himself and the late star for Christmas, his rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

In the Twitter photo, posted on Tuesday, the two snuggle close in front of a red holiday background. Santa hats were Photoshopped onto the pair’s heads and wrapped presents were placed into their laps. The card read “Merry Christmas” at the bottom.

Gordon’s holiday greeting comes as he is currently embroiled in a public legal battle with Brown’s family over her July death.

Brown was found unconscious and unresponsive in a bathtub in January at the home she shared with Gordon. She subsequently spent nearly six months in a Georgia hospice before her death.

While Gordon has repeatedly denied allegations he physically abused Bobbi, the late star’s family filed a complaint over the summer accusing him of “wrongful death.”

An October legal filing from Brown’s court-appointed conservator, Bedelia Hargrove, alleged that the 22-year-old died due to a “injection of toxic mixture” by Gordon.

“Ms. Brown died due to a violent altercation with Defendant (Gordon) after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture,” the filing read.

The documents were in response to a motion filed by Gordon asking the court to stop the family’s initial August lawsuit.

Later in October, deposition recordings of Brown’s former roommate Danyela Bradley also alleged that the star “smoked marijuana,” as well as crack and heroin.

Bradley also told the court that Brown and Gordon “had a very happy, loving relationship.”
