After news broke of his sister’s death Wednesday, Nick Carter said he is not planning to cancel his scheduled tour dates, but will instead dedicate the performances to his sister, Leslie.

“Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform,” the singer said in a statement released via his publicist, Jack Ketsoyan, on Wednesday.

Leslie Carter was 25. She passed away in upstate New York, though no other details were immediately known.

The Carter family appreciates the outpouring of support from fans but asks that their privacy be respected during their time of grief, Ketsoyan added.

Nick Carter’s tour is scheduled to resume Thursday with a performance at New York’s Irving Plaza.
