A posthumous solo album by Michael Hutchence will be released by midyear, the AP reports. V2 Records’ Australian general manager, Greg Johnson, said the company had secured a “worldwide deal” to release material that Hutchence had been working on before his death. Hutchence, the singer of the band INXS, hanged himself in a Sydney hotel room in November 1997 at age 37. Johnson said that the company struck a deal with Hutchence’s estate, and that Hutchence’s father, Kel, welcomed the announcement.
