New Columbine Library

Out with the old and in with the new in Littleton, Colorado, where two Denver-area residents have each donated $250,000 to help build a new library at massacre-torn Columbine High School. Bob Sturm, the filmmaker son of billionaire Donald Sturm, matched an earlier donation by Sharon Magness, the widow of Denver cable visionary Bob Magness, reports the Associated Press. The two contributions bring the moneys raised so far to $1,128,562 (of the total $3.2 million needed for the project). Relatives of survivors and victims of the April 20, 1999, attack on the school by two of its students want the old library, where the shutout was centered, closed permanently and a new facility built nearby.
