It’s a little new Bratt — their first — for former “Law & Order” star Benjamin Bratt and his actress-model wife, Talisa Soto, the Associated Press reports.

The little girl, Sophia Rosalinda Bratt, was born at an undisclosed Manhattan hospital Dec. 6 and weighed in at 7 lbs.

The happy news was announced Monday, which also was the proud papa’s 39th birthday.

The couple married last April at an intimate family ceremony in San Francisco, where Bratt grew up. The Brooklyn-born Soto, 35, started modeling at age 15 and was chosen in 1990 as one of PEOPLE’s 50 Most Beautiful People.

The couple met on the set of last year’s movie “Pinero,” a biography of Puerto Rican poet-playwright Miguel Pinero. Soto’s other movies include “The Mambo Kings,” “Spy Hard,” “Hostage,” “Don Juan De Marco,” the “Mortal Kombat” features and last fall’s “Ecks Vs. Sever” with Antonio Banderas. Her previous marriage, to actor Costas Mandylor, ended in divorce in 2000 after three years.

Besides his NBC role as Detective Rey Curtis, Bratt also appeared on the big screen in “The River Wild,” “Clear and Present Danger,” “Traffic” and “Miss Congeniality” — though the public also knew him as the two-year squeeze of Julia Roberts, until the relationship ended last year. (Roberts married cameraman Danny Moder last July 4.)

Benjamin and Talisa — and now, Sophia — have homes in New York City and San Francisco.
