NBA: That Settles It!

The National Basketball Association, which came close to becoming the only major professional sports league to lose an entire season because of a labor dispute, dramatically bounced back on Wednesday with a landmark settlement with its players. Owners are expected to approve the deal Thursday, and a shortened 52-game season is expected to begin Feb. 2. (Still no answer on whether or not Michael Jordan will play.) Elsewhere in the country, Wall Street hit a record high yesterday, and the Senate opens impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton today.
