Sure, Halloween might as well be an all-month affair, but there’s another holiday worth celebrating in October.

Thursday is National Vodka Day, an annual commemoration for a spirit of the non-supernatural kind. Shake up these celeb-worthy recipes (which may just give you enough liquid courage to rock your costume a few weeks early).

The Savoy
A fruity, fresh swill by N.Y.C. chef Marcus Samuelsson, who’s cooked for President Barack Obama and Martha Stewart
• 2 oz. vodka (recipe recommends Skyy Vodka)
• 3 red grapes
• 3 bunches of white grapes
• 1 oz. lemon juice
• ½ oz. agave syrup
In a rocks glass, muddle two red grapes and two white grapes. Shake vodka, lemon juice and agave together with ice and strain over muddled grapes. Garnish with a skewer of four to five grapes.

Moscow Mule
A straight-up classic
• 1.7 oz. vodka (recipe recommends Russian Standard Vodka)
• 5 oz. ginger beer
Serve it in a copper mug and garnish it with a lime wedge.

Svedka Colada Rangoon Gimlet
An autumn retreat for those wishing they could sip their way back to summer
• 2 parts coconut-flavored vodka (recipe recommends Svedka Colada)
• 0.75 part simple syrup
• 0.75 part fresh lime juice (or sour mix)
• 1 kaffir lime leaf
Pour all ingredients in a mixing tin, including the kaffir lime leaf. Add the ice, shake and then strain the mixture into a cocktail or martini glass. Garnish with the kaffir lime leaf by clapping the leaf in hand and placing it in the glass.
