Last time we checked, you don’t need an excuse to sit down for a three-martini lunch. (We asked Don Draper just to be sure, and he confirmed this was a fact.)

Still, here’s one more reason to order something stronger: Happy National Martini Day!

Although the origin of the Mad Men-approved, traditionally gin-based beverage is a little shaky – much like how James Bond prefers his prepared – the first printed recipe for a martini is thought to have appeared in an 1880s bartending manuel. (Sure, we’ll drink to that!)

Here’s a modern spin on the classic, whether you’re celebrating Wednesday’s holiday … or sipping the night away.

Uva Bianca
Served up at LAVO New York City restaurant and nightclub
• 2 oz. white grape-flavored vodka
• 1 oz. elderflower liqueur (recipe recommends St. Germain)
• ½ oz. lemon juice
• 7 green grapes
• Splash of club soda
• Garnish: three grapes
Muddle the grapes in a cocktail shaker. Add your remaining ingredients and shake. Strain the cocktail into a martini glass. Garnish with three grapes.
