It’s National Margarita Day – and what better way to celebrate than with a icy cold beverage of your own.

Recently, PEOPLE spoke to Project Runway judge Nina Garcia about fashion – and fabulous drinks – and Garcia shared her favorite recipe.

She also gave tips for throwing the perfect party – whether it be for Project Runway (when it eventually returns to Lifetime) – or for any other occasion.

Her tip for party-hosts? Make sure there’s plenty of food and drinks.

“Put an array of tasting plates with finger foods within reach of every seat and mix a pitcher of margaritas or martinis,” Garcia told PEOPLE. “The festivities … will proceed seamlessly if the food and drinks flow freely all night.”

Garcia’s drink of choice? A frozen fruit margarita. Want to make it yourself? Here’s the recipe:

Frozen Fruit Margarita

• 8 ounces white tequila
• 4 ounces Cointreau
• 4 ounces any fruit syrup or fresh fruit puree (we like Prickly Pear, pear or peach!)
• 2 ounces fresh lime juice
• Crushed ice
• Lime wedge, for garnish
• Coarse salt, optional

Combine tequila, Cointreau, fruit puree, lime juice and ice in a blender and blend until smooth and frothy. Serve in rocks glass and garnish with lime.
