NASCAR's Jeff Gordon Gets Married

The driver and Belgian model Ingrid Vandebosch tie the knot in Mexico

NASCAR racecar driver Jeff Gordon tied the knot Tuesday with Belgian model and actress Ingrid Vandebosch, his rep Jon Edwards confirmed to PEOPLE.

The pair, engaged less than five months, held a private ceremony in Mexico – but will spend their honeymoon weekend in Phoenix, where Gordon will compete in the Checker Auto Parts 500 on Sunday.

The marriage is Gordon’s second. He was divorced from his first wife, Brooke Sealy, in 2003.

“I think she knows I’m a lot smarter the second time around,” Gordon said of Vandebosch on June 25 in a post-race news conference where he discussed the pair’s engagement, announced one day earlier. “She’s got a much better guy this time around too, and I’ve got an amazing girl this time around.”

Gordon, 35 and Vandebosch kept their engagement secret for about a month, but chose to go public on June 24 at a croquet party he hosted for family and friends on the eve of Gordon’s record fifth win at Infineon Raceway north of San Francisco, just miles from his boyhood home in Vallejo, Calif.

The couple initially met in the summer of 2002 through mutual friends and began dating in the winter of 2005, Edwards previously told PEOPLE.

As an actress, Vandebosch had roles in the 2001 film Going Greek and 2004’s Taxi, in which Gordon also had an uncredited cameo playing himself, according to IMDB.com
