She didn’t see it coming.
Paul McCartney’s new fiancée, Nancy Shevell, says she wasn’t expecting Sir Paul to pop the question while in California recently.
“A total surprise,” Shevell, 51, a New York businesswoman, tells Cindy Adams of the New York Post.
Shevell says she and the Beatles legend, 68, will get married “soon” in a small ceremony with “just our families.” She adds: “I don’t know the exact date. And don’t ask what I’ll wear because how dressy do you get to stand before a Justice of the Peace in his chambers, which is exactly what we’re going to do.”
McCartney, whose first wife Linda died in 1998 and who split from his second wife, Heather Mills, in 2008, has been dating Shevell since 2007. “Having gone through a difficult period, he’s in a much better place,” a source recently told PEOPLE. “He’s very happy.”
