MTV host Vanessa Minnillo is leaving Total Request Live, she tells PEOPLE – and for her, it’s a graduation of sorts.

“I had my four years there like high school or college,” Minnillo, 26, said Tuesday at a benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “I’m ready for the next chapter – what it is, I have no idea. [But] I don’t want to be 48 saying, ‘Hey kids, now it’s Sean Preston Spears’s video.’ ”

The veejay, who recently moved in with boyfriend Nick Lachey, said there are some things she’ll miss about her job. “I’m going to miss that daily live factor of anything can happen,” she told PEOPLE.

“There’s an adrenaline rush that goes with that. It’s so exciting to be able to leave and say I loved it and I’m going to miss it.”

Minnillo’s first non-MTV gig will be unveiling her limited-edition makeup line for Flirt! Cosmetics, available in August. “We have two looks going on,” she said. “You can have that fun rock-and-roll look or an everyday look.”

She also has a cameo in the movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, in theaters this summer.
