Italy’s Mount Etna (in Sicily, to be exact) is one of the most active volcanos in the world.

And it graced all of us with another spectacular eruption May 13, providing some dramatic photos and videos that show the explosion and resulting lava flow lit up against the night sky.

Etna is the largest and most active volcano in Europe, and erupts frequently, continuing a 2,000-year hot streak (get it?), and while it’s situated above the city of Catania, its explosions and the resulting lava flows rarely reach inhabited areas. Residents have, after all, had two millennia or so to get used to this sort of thing.

We’re still big fans, though. These videos, shot by Turi Caggegi, show Etna’s latest activity.
