The Desperate Housewives actress calls the recipe she learned from her mom, "Heaven"

Many moms like their families to cook for them on Mother’s Day. But where Marcia Cross is concerned, there’s a good chance she doesn’t mind doing some baking of her own on her special day.

The Desperate Housewives actress, 50, honors her mom Janet by regularly cooking up her brown sugar cookies which calls “yummy,” and says combined with milk, they are simply, “heaven.”

The easy recipe comes from Loukoumi’s Celebrity Cookbook, featuring the favorite childhood recipes from more than 50 stars, including Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Aniston. Proceeds from the book benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Chefs for Humanity.

Whether you need to curb your sweet tooth, or simply want something to nibble on while watching the series finale of Cross and her costars’ long-running hit show (which airs on Mother’s Day), check out the recipe below:

Brown Sugar Cookies

1 lb. brown sugar
½ lb. margarine (two sticks)
2 eggs
3½ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts, optional

1. Beat sugar, margarine and eggs until creamy. Add flour and baking soda and mix well.
2. Pack into loaf pan and chill several hours or overnight.
3. Slice and bake at 350 degrees, approximately six minutes, or as needed.
4. Sprinkle with nuts if desired.
