Carmen Boyce, 35. J. Wight, a detective with the Seattle On Dec. 5, 2012, Children’s Hospital staff requested that Seattle Police respond to investigate a case of suspected child abuse. The 2-year-old victim was admitted to Children’s Hospital on Dec. 3, 2012. She reportedly had suffered from seizures and repeated vomiting and diarrhea with weight loss. Her symptoms were medically unexplained and the hospitalization was for the purpose of allowing doctors to observer her and diagnose her eating/vomiting issues which had reportedly been occurring for about a year. She was brought to the hospital by her mom. She shared the room with another infant patient. The adults associated with that other patient later reported that they saw behavior by Carmen Boyce that concerned them for child abuse. A registered nurse had conversations with Carmen Boyce in which Carmen said that her child had problems eating various foods due to texture issues and had a history of throwing up. Carmen also reported she had another daughter at home, a 4 year old, who required tube feeding.
