The iCarly star plans to study theater or writing at University of Southern California
Miranda Cosgrove, who just finished filming the sixth and final season of her hit Nickelodeon show iCarly, says she’s ready (and excited) to kick off her freshman year at University of Southern California this August.
“We’re finished with iCarly forever, which is kind of crazy,” says Cosgrove, 19, calling the final taping “emotional.”
“Especially during the last scene, everyone started crying,” she says. “But I’m also excited to start college.”
With plans to major in either theater or writing, “I’m looking forward to being back in a school environment after doing home schooling for so long,” says Cosgrove, who started filming iCarly at 13. “I’m just excited to meet people and learn.”
“And I’m excited for theater,” she continues. “I’ve been acting for a while but theater is pretty different. I’ve never been in a play.”
As for her choice of USC, where her dad also attended, “I want to keep acting and I thought it would be easier if I lived in L.A.,” Cosgrove says. “And I get to stay near my family.”
The actress, who attended the grand opening of Universal Orlando’s new Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction on Monday – she reprises her role as Margo in the sequel to the animated film, due next year – is already mulling what she’ll pack for her freshman year.
One thing not on the list: her collection of plush “Minions,” the yellow mischief-makers from the movie.
“I don’t know what my roommate would think of that,” she says. “I might wait on the Minions!”
