As far as crowdfunding ideas go, this one lands somewhere north of “admirably far-fetched.”

An “ambitious team of architects and structural engineers” have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to build – wait for it – a life-size replica or Minis Tirith, the capital city of Gondor, from the Lord of the Rings series, in southern England. For this, they’ll need a little over $3 billion.

The city, as planned, will be “beautiful, inspirational,” and best of all, “fully-functioning.” Both residential and commercial properties will be constructed, and they aim to commence work by the end of 2016, with a projected completion date of 2023.

“Please only donate within your means, and in the knowledge that this project is a light-hearted venture with virtually no chance of succeeding,” the group writes. However, for $156,000, you can become a lord or lady of Minas Tirith, with all the privileges that entails, including the use of horse-drawn carriages for transport.
